عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما من عبد صلي علي صلاة إلا عرج بها ملك حتي يحىي بها وجه الرحمان عز وجل فيقول ربنا تبارك وتعالي اذهبوا بها الي قبر عبدي تستغفر لقائلها وتقر بها عينه (القول البديع ص١٢٤)
Hadhrat Aaishah رضي الله عنها reports that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “When a person sends Durood upon me, an angel rises with it to the heavens until he presents it in front of Allah Ta’ala. Our Rabb then says. ‘Take it to the grave of my servant who will seek forgiveness for the one who recited it, thereby granting him comfort.’”
Commentary
Zaadus Saeed quotes from the book Mawaahibul Ladunniyyah that when a Mumin’s good deeds will be too light to weigh down the scales in his favour, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم will place a piece of paper upon the pan of the scale, which will be the size of a fingertip. This will immediately cause the pan of good deeds to weigh heavier. “May my parents be sacrificed for you!” the believer will exclaim, “Who are you, O most handsome and graceful one?” Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم will reply, “I am your Nabi and upon this piece of paper is the Durood that you had recited upon me. I have presented it at the time you needed it the most.”
It is useless to object to the fact that a small piece of paper can weigh down the scales of good deeds because it is really the strength of sincerity that weighs heavy in the sight of Allah Ta’ala. The more the sincerity, the more weight does a deed carry. We have quoted the Hadith of Bitaaqah which speaks about the tiny note with the Kalimah written upon it. The Hadith makes it clear that this little note would outweigh 99 registers of sins, each register being so large that it stretches out for as far as the eye can see.

Hadith of Bitaaqah
عن أبي عبد الرحمن المعافري ثم الحبلي قال سمعت عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص يقول سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن الله سيخلص رجلا من أمتي على رؤوس الخلائق يوم القيامة، فينشر عليه تسعة وتسعين سجلا كل سجل مثل مد البصرثم يقول أتنكر من هذا شيئا؟ أظلمك كتبتي الحافظون؟ يقول لا يا رب فيقول أفلك عذر؟ فيقول لا يا رب فيقول: بلى إن لك عندنا حسنة وإنه لا ظلم عليك اليوم فيخرج بطاقة فيها أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله فيقول احضر وزنك فيقول يا رب ما هذه البطاقة مع هذه السجلات فقال فإنك لا تظلم قال فتوضع السجلات في كفة والبطاقة في كفة فطاشت السجلات وثقلت البطاقة ولا يثقل مع اسم الله شيء (ترمذي الرقم ٢٦٣٩)
Hadhrat Abdullah ibnu Amr ibnul Aas رضي الله عنه narrates that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “On the Day of Qiyaamat, Allah Ta’ala will select a man from my Ummat and will call him in the presence of all mankind, and then 99 registers of his sins will be opened before him, each register as long as one can see. He will then be asked if he denies anything recorded in his account of deeds, or whether the Malaaikah who were appointed to record his deeds had been unjust to him in any respect. He will reply in the negative (i.e. he will neither deny anything nor blame the Malaaikah for any injustice to him). Then Allah Ta’ala will ask him if he can justify his misdeeds, but he will reply that he has no excuse to offer. Then Allah Ta’ala will say, “Well, there is indeed one virtue to your credit. Today no injustice will be done to you.” Then a small piece of paper with the Kalimah written on it will be handed over to him, and he will be asked to go and get it weighed. He will submit that this small piece of paper will be of little avail against so many lengthy registers. Allah will say, “This day, no injustice will be done to you.” Then all the registers will be placed in one pan and the piece of paper in the other pan. The pan with the registers will fly up in the air on account of the excessive weight of that piece of paper. The truth of the matter is that nothing is weightier than the name of Allah Ta’ala.”
Commentary
This is purely the blessed result of Ikhlas that, a single recitation of the Kalimah Tayyibah with sincerity can outweigh all the misdeeds recorded in so many registers. Therefore, it is necessary that one should not look down upon any Muslim and think himself to be superior to him. Who knows that Allah Ta’ala may accept from him some deeds which may suffice for his salvation. And, on the other hand nobody can be sure about himself whether any of his deeds will be found worthy of acceptance.

Many Ahaadith tell us that sincerity weighs heavily in the sight of Allah Ta’ala.
One Durood…
We conclude that Zikrullah and Durood Shareef plays a great role in earning the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala and must therefore be recited very often. Who knows when or whose recitation will be accepted. In fact, a single Durood Shareef or Kalimah Tayyibah may be the cause for our salvation from Jahannum and entrance into Jannah.

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمَاً أَبَدًا عَلَىْ حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
جَزَی اللهُ عَنَّا نَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی اللهُ عَلَیْه وسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ أَھْلُهُ
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
