How Much Durood?

I wish to increase my Durood upon you, so from the time I allocate for dua, how much should I reserve for sending Durood upon you?” Rasulullahصلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “As much as you desire.” I asked, “One quarter (i.e. one quarter of the time)?”  Rasulullahصلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “If you so wish, and if you increase it, it will be better.” I then asked, “One half?” Rasulullahصلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “As much as you desire, and if you increase it, it will be better.” I then asked, “Two thirds?” Rasulullahصلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “If you so wish, and if you increase it, it will be better.” I finally said, “O Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, I resolve to devote all the time I have allocated for dua to convey Durood upon you.” Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم mentioned, “In that case Allah جل جلاله will make it a means of relieving you from all your worries (and problems), and a means of atonement for your sins.”

Reflections

As per the saying of the Beloved of the worlds صلى الله عليه وسلم “Whoever loves something, mentions it excessively”, an abundance of Durood Shareef is a necessary demand of expressing our love and gratitude to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم for his innumerable favours upon us.

From the above hadith we understand that through the barakah of dedicating ourselves to excessive Durood Shareef, Allah Ta’aala will forgive our sins and relieve us all from worries and distress. May Allah Ta’aala make us those who are blessed with special proximity to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه و سلم on the day of Qiyaamah. Ameen

“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”

May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
