Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas رضي الله عنهما reports that he heard Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, “When you hear the muazzin call out the azaan, then repeat the words of the azaan after him and thereafter recite Durood upon me (before reciting the dua of azaan). Verily, whoever recites Durood upon me once, Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings on him. Then (recite the dua after the azaan in which you) supplicate to Allah Ta’ala to bless me with the honour of ‘waseelah’ which is a lofty position and rank in Jannah which will be exclusively granted to one of Allah Ta’ala’s special servants. I earnestly hope that I am granted that position, and whoever supplicates to Allah Ta’ala to grant me the ‘waseelah’, he will receive my intercession on the day of Qiyaamah.

Commentary
In some versions of this same hadith we find that intercession will be waajib for such reciters of salat alan Nabi In a hadith in ‘Bukhaari’ we read that, “whosoever hears the call to prayer and recites,
O’ Allah, Rabb of this perfect call and established prayer. Grant Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم the intercession and favour and raise him to the honoured station You have promised him. Verily you do not neglect promises.
for such ones my intercession shall take place.”
(Fazaail Durood pg.69)
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
