The Closest to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم on the Day of Qiyaamah

عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: أولى الناس بي يوم القيامة أكثرهم عليّ صلاة (سنن الترمذي رقم484)

Hazrat Abdullah Bin Masood رضي الله عنه narrates that Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The closest person to me on the Day of Qiyaamah will be the one who recited the most Durood upon me.”

Commentary

“The closest person to me on the Day of Qiyaamah”- Allamah Sakhaawi رحمه الله states that Ibn Hibbaan رحمه الله commenting on this Hadith, says that those who will be closest to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم  on the Day of Qiyaamah will be the Muhadditheen (scholars of Hadith) because they recite Durood Shareef the most.

Hazrat Abu Ubaydah رحمه الله has also stated that this Hadith refers to the Muhadditheen because Durood Shareef is read and written every time they write a Hadith. Abu Nu’aym رحمه الله has also expressed the same opinion. This is because they always getting the opportunity to recite Durood Shareef when reciting, narrating and writing Ahaadith. The term Muhadditheen refers not only to the Imaams of Hadith, but all those people who who read and teach books of Hadith whether it is in Arabic or not. (Fazaail Durood pg.32)

Three Hundred Durood Daily

Allamah Sakhaawi رحمه الله has stated in his Qutul Quloob that the minimum amount of Durood that is regarded as ‘abundant recitation’ is to recite Durood Shareef 300 times. Hadhrat Moulana Gangohi رحمه الله also used to prescibe 300 times Durood to those wishing to draw close to Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله. (Fazaail Durood pg.32)
