عن عبد الله ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: أولى الناس بى يوم القيامة أكثرهم علي صلوة (سنن الترمذي رقم484)
Hazrat Ibn Mas’ood رضي الله عنه reports that Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said; “Verily the nearest of people to me on the Day of Qiyaamah will be those who recited most salaat on me.”
Commentary
Allamah Sakhaawi رحمه الله mentions a Hadith in ‘Qowlul Badee’ that Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said; “Those of you who recite most salaat, shall on the Day of Qiyaamah be nearest to me.”
Hazrat Anas رضي الله عنه reports thus; “On the Day of Qiyaamah the one from amongst you who shall at all times be nearest to me shall be he who reads much salaat on me.”
It is also related from Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم that; “Recite salaat on me much, for in the grave you shall initially be asked about me.” Another Hadith says; “Recite salaat on me plentifully for verily it shall be a light in the darkness on the Siraat, and whoever desires that his deeds should weigh heavily on the scales, let him recite much salaat.”
In yet another Hadith Hazrat Anas رضي الله عنه reports; “The person who shall be best protected and saved from the consternation of the Day of Qiyaamah shall be the one who reads salaat on me.”

Reflections
It is absolutely essential that we, as believers, recognise this immense right of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم upon us and make it a part of our daily schedule to regularly recite Salaat Alan Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم (Durood Shareef).
يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمَاً أَبَدًا عَلَىْ حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
جَزَی اللہُ عَنَّا نَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْه وسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ أَھْلُهُ
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
