Virtue of Jumuah

Hazrat Aus bin Aus رضي الله عنه reports that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Indeed among the best of your days is the day of Jumuah. On Friday Adam عليه السلام was created, and on it he passed away, and on it the trumpet will be blown, and on it the creation will fall unconscious. So increase your recitation of Durood upon me on the day of Jumuah for your Durood is definitely presented to me.” The Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم enquired, “O Rasul of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم! How will our Durood be presented to you, whereas your body will have decomposed in the grave?” Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “Indeed Allah Ta‘ala جل جلاله has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of the Ambiyaa عليهم السلام.”

Commentary

Mulla Ali Qari رحمه الله has beautifully explained two wisdoms, from among the many, for excessively reciting Durood upon Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم on the day of Jumuah,

  • Engaging in the best action (Durood) during the best time (day of Jumuah), is the apex of perfection and beauty.
  • Friday is the ‘leader’ of all days, so it should be spent in the service of the leader of all creation صلى الله عليه وسلم (by engaging in excessive Durood).”

(Mirqaat v.3 pg.409)

“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”

May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
